Honest Pricing. No Surprises.
Hamilton Psychotherapy is a private pay practice. That means no insurance billing, no surprise claims, and no limits on how long we work together based on what your plan decides to cover.

- Mention it when you reach out for availability
A limited number of reduced-rate spots are available.
If cost is a concern, please mention it when you reach out.
I Don't Bill Insurance Directly — and That's Intentional.
When you pay out of pocket, sessions are between you and me. There's no insurance company deciding what's clinically necessary, no limit on how many sessions you can have, and no diagnostic code attached to your record because a payer required it.
For a lot of people, that kind of privacy and autonomy is worth it.
Out-of-Network Reimbursement May Be an Option
If your insurance plan includes out-of-network mental health benefits, you may be able to submit for partial reimbursement after paying for sessions. I can provide a superbill — a detailed receipt — that you can submit directly to your insurance provider.
Call the number on the back of your insurance card and ask: "Do I have out-of-network mental health benefits, and how do I submit for reimbursement?"
Good Faith Estimate
Under the No Surprises Act, you have the right to receive a Good Faith Estimate of the expected cost of services before your first appointment. I'll provide this to you as part of our intake process — no request needed.
Sliding Scale
I do reserve a small number of spots for clients who need a reduced rate. If cost is a barrier, please mention it when you reach out — I'll let you know what's currently available.
Is Private Pay Right for You?
Private pay is a real financial commitment. It's worth thinking through honestly.
If you have solid out-of-network benefits, the effective cost after reimbursement is often significantly lower than the session rate. If you don't have those benefits, the question becomes whether the level of personalized, uninterrupted support is worth the investment for you right now.
There's no pressure here. If you're not sure, a free 15-minute consultation is a good way to ask questions and figure out what makes sense.
Payment & Cancellation
Payment
Payment is due at the time of service. Accepted methods:
- Credit card / debit card (card on file through secure client portal)
A valid credit card is required on file before scheduling.
Cancellation Policy
I ask for at least 24 hours' notice for cancellations or rescheduling. Sessions cancelled with less than 24 hours' notice — or missed without notice — are charged the full session fee.
I understand things come up. If something unexpected happens, reach out as soon as you can and we'll figure it out.
